Under Tools | Customize | Customize Fields., set the display to "Graphical Indicators. Under Start, Middle, and End, click the shapes, types or patterns, and colors for the bar. If the Gantt bar type doesn't appear in the table, you can create a new Gantt bar for the task type you want. You can also summarise several tasks, roll them up, whilst showing the tasks and formatting the summary bar (and ends) as blank. In the Name field, click the type of Gantt bar (such as Task or Progress) that you want to format, and then click the Bars tab. Unfortunately, it's a bit of setup, but once it is done, it updates automatically. You cannot put two tasks on the same row. Then, using that value, I set up the Graphical Indicators to show a blue dot for complete, yellow for in progress, green for future, and red for overdue. Then, at the bottom of the form, click "Graphical Indicators" and set up ranges for each color icon, then choose the color icon itself.įor example, I wrote a custom formula (see below) that sets the value of Number1 based on the current date and the Finish date of each task. Number1, etc), right-click and choose "Customize Fields" then select the individual field by name. I found the best approach is to use small colored icons in a number column: blue/green/yellow/red.
